Terms of use

Last updated September 17, 2026

Onstrength is free today for one person costing their own team. Putting it to work across an organisation is a different thing, and it needs a licence. This page says which is which, what can change, and what Onstrength does not promise.

Who provides this

Onstrength is made and operated by KMC Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. Using Onstrength means accepting what is on this page.

What it costs

One person, costing their own team — free today

No account and no sign-up.

If you are a manager, an analyst or an advisor working out what your own positions cost, Onstrength is free to use. Use it as often as you like, on as many of your own devices as you like. Install it on your phone. Show it to a colleague.

What is offered free, and to whom, is set by this page and can change. See If these terms change.

An organisation putting it in front of its people — licensed

Get in touch and we will work out what it looks like.

A licence is needed to do any of these:

That boundary exists because an organisation needs things an individual does not: a security assessment somebody stands behind, an accessibility conformance statement, a version that will not change underneath you, both official languages, pay tables kept current as agreements settle, and a named person who answers. Those are what a licence pays for.

A different employer's pay grid — quoted

Provincial, municipal, health, education, agencies, and outside Canada.

The arithmetic is the same everywhere; the pay grid is what changes. Building Onstrength against a grid other than the federal one is work, and it is quoted as work. Get in touch.

What you may not do

The whole of the code arrives in your browser and you can read every line of it. That is deliberate — it is how you can check for yourself that nothing is uploaded. Reading it, inspecting it and satisfying yourself about it is entirely fine. Republishing it is not.

Except for what is granted above, all rights are reserved.

About the numbers

Onstrength costs positions from published pay tables. Those rates are transcribed from published sources rather than taken from Treasury Board directly, and because collective agreements settle unevenly, some groups carry rates that predate their current agreement. The app says so where it matters.

Check any figure against the collective agreement before anyone relies on it. That applies to a number on the screen, a number in a printout and a number in a spreadsheet that came out of Onstrength.

Onstrength does arithmetic. It is not a payroll system, not a system of record, and not financial, legal, staffing or human resources advice. It does not know about your department's rules, your delegation, or the conversation you had with Finance last week. The decisions stay yours.

No warranty

Onstrength is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

It is tested carefully — several hundred automated checks run against every release, including a frozen set of known-good figures that fails the build if any of them moves. Careful is not the same as guaranteed, and no software is guaranteed. Onstrength may be unavailable, may contain errors, and may be discontinued.

To the fullest extent the law allows, KMC Inc. is not liable for any loss, cost or damage arising from using Onstrength or relying on a figure it produced, including budget decisions, staffing decisions and anything downstream of them. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Onstrength — which, for free use, is nothing.

Your data

Everything you type stays in your own browser. There is no account, no server and nothing uploaded, which also means there is no backup and no way to recover what a cleared browser deletes. Privacy sets out what that means in full, including the parts that cut against you.

You are responsible for what you put in. If your organisation has rules about where employee information may be stored, those rules apply to your browser too.

If these terms change

These terms can change. A changed version is posted on this page with a new date and applies from the date it is posted. Continuing to use Onstrength after that means accepting the version then in force.

What is free today may be limited, reduced or withdrawn, including ending free access altogether. Onstrength may also be changed, priced, or discontinued. Nothing on this page is a commitment to keep any part of it available or free.

If a change does not suit you, stop using Onstrength. Your work is not held hostage by that decision: everything you entered is already in your own browser, and Create a backup on the Setup tab downloads a file you can keep.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
